2010 Visa Championships Seniors

well as most of you know the visa championships were this weekend and the competition was fierce! I don't know about you but i was super upset to hear that Bridget Sloan was injured and would not be competing! I felt SO bad because she had no shot of defending her national title, and not only that the only event she did compete (beam) she FELL ... but luckily on night 2 she redeemed herself with a better routine. Now with Bridget out everyone kinda knew Rebecca Bross was gunna take it (congrats btw). Now don't hate, but i don't really like her. Don't get me wrong she an amazing gymnast and i love her style of gymnastics but she comes across kinda cocky and some-what bratty ... but then again Nastia was like that too but she warmed up so maybe theres hope for Rebecca. Mattie Larson i think did AMAZING at this meet shes a beast on floor as we all know, but her other routines were looking good. I think she has made a great comeback don't you think? Much better then in 2008 and i have no doubts she'll be on that 2012 team! Now one of my other favorite gymnasts Mackenzie Caquatto i only got to see her bars and beam??? WTF is this?! and Cassie Whitcomb?!? i didn't even SEE coverage on her! NBC that is a fail ... but anyway Mackenzie is on of USA's best bar workers and unfortunately she fell .2 seconds into her routine! she looked like she was going to cry and i felt sooo bad! but she came out with 5th place in the all-around? not bad compared to last years 17th. Kytra Hunter is someone i have never heard of until Nationals is it just me or did she just come out of no where!? i think is one AMAZING vault and floor specialist and her beam and bars arn't bad either. i think she'll be a specialist in 2012 for sure! Well i MUST talk about maybe one of the greatest comeback Alica Sacramone ... OH MY GOD! She killed it! Her beam was great she stuck her mount every time (; and her vaults were so powerful! yeah she needs to work on sticking her landings for vault and her dismount on beam but still for not training a whole what? year and a half? shes pretty amazing! so Alica's back, Bridget's been back, Ivanna's back, i think Sam's back, and Shawn has announced that shes trying to come back also ... WHY IS NASTIA STILL UNDECIDED!!!!! we need her back i miss her in this sport ha ha!

Gymnast Profile: Vanessa Zamarripa

Vanessa Zamarripa
Vanessa is a NCAA champion for the UCLA bruins. The Sophomore is originally from O'Fallen, IL which is just outside St. Louis (don't worry I've never heard of it either!) Vanessa Tried going elite when she was 14 but it sadly didn't work out:( Shes back now and feels like its the right time for her! In her first elite meet, the US Cover Girl Classic, she placed 7th!!! not bad at all considering she was up against gymnasts like Rebbecca Bross, Mattie Larson, and Bridget Sloan. She just competed at the US Visa Championships and got 8th in the All-Around! I think Vanessa Zamarripa is on her way to an amazing elite career! Shes definitely one of my favorites.
What do you guys think about Vanessa? Do you like her? Dislike her? Have you even ever heard of her? and do you think she really has a shot at 2012??
